In the MENA region, these dynamics are especially pronounced, raising questions about resilience, autonomy, and multistakeholder cooperation. This session explores how infrastructure has become a frontline in internet governance and what this means for regional and global actors.

Join the ALAC-GAC Regulatory Developments Briefing Series for a focused session on Internet Infrastructure and Multistakeholder Governance in MENA, where we will examine the evolving role of infrastructure in the governance landscape—particularly in light of regional instability and global fragmentation pressures.

🎤 Don’t miss the keynote by Dr. Chafik Chaya (RIPE NCC), who will offer a first-hand perspective on how multistakeholder models are adapting to manage critical internet resources across the MENA region.   • Introduction: Zeina Bourharb (Director of International Cooperation at OGERO Telecom — the state-owned Lebanese telecom operator responsible for the development and maintenance of the country’s telecommunications infrastructure), Dr. Joanna Kulesza, Director of Lodz Cyber Hub, Assistant Professor of International Law at the Faculty of Law and Administration, University of Łódź.
  • Opening Remarks: Dr. Chafik Chaya, Senior External Relations Officer at the Réseaux IP Européens Network Coordination Centre (RIPE NCC) for the Middle East region, specializing in management information systems, Internet governance, telecommunications regulation, and communication and network technologies.
